Spine
DSCK is introducing (effective September 2007) a full spectrum of spine procedures, including treatment for degenerative, discogenic, and traumatic lesions of the entire spine. In reality, most ASCs are unable to offer such services since many practitioners are not trained to perform them on an outpatient basis. Doctors Surgery Center of Kingman, by arrangement with the Western Regional Center for Brain & Spine Surgery, and William D. Smith, MD, is now able to provide this addition to our existing capabilities. If outpatient is not the right setting, then inpatient care is available in Las Vegas.
As technology and technique advance more and more procedures are migrating to the ASC. Many insurers are following these developments and are finding that quality care and good outcomes are consistently achieved. Coblation
DSCK is introducing (effective January 2006) a unique, low-temperature technology for certain procedures of the ear, nose, and throat. It's called "Coblation." Older surgical ways included a scalpel for cutting and a hot electrocautery device for clotting of sensitive tissues. These methods could cause extensive pain and may damage surrounding healthy tissue. Contrasting with that approach is coblation that uses gentle radiofrequency energy with a saline solution to quickly and safely remove and affect only the tissue which the surgeon intends to address.
At DSCK Dr. Richard Bailey, MD specializes in this technique and has identifed the following surgeries as suitable for coblation:
- Tonsils and Adenoids
- Sleep Apnea
- Nasal Obstructions
